Coming Home from a Dream

Hell has a habit of sucking in hapless, tortured souls... including those from other worlds, it seems, when helped along by portalling magic concocted by Stolas of the Ars Goetia. Hell, in fact, is very receptive to the devised spell, sucking in those that portal from the land of dreams, songerein.

Residents of hell walking through the portal find themselves startled awake where they were, but newcomers? Their forms become physical, tangible, changing them into the creatures they dream themselves to be - for the best and most certainly for the monstrous. It is Hell, after all.

Despite the grunt of surprise- still getting used to all that- he wasn't one to shy away from a hug. Fuck, why not, it's hug time! C'mere!

"I didn't doubt that Big Bird could pull it off, but the change of look's a surprise. I guess we'd stick out if we looked human. But the minute I get hell fleas or somethin', I'm gonna fuckin' riot!"

Via can't help laughing a little, tightening the hug a little.

"They make shampoo for that. I'll help you get some...oh, and we'll need to get you a good brush. The fur takes maintenance, but you'll be a lot warmer on cold nights." And be more snuggly, but Octavia's already enjoying that part.

"How about your senses? Any changes from having Pochita around to going full hellhound?"

Aw, man... hell fleas have to be massive or something! He was not looking forward to that. The brush made sense, but he had a feeling he was going to be doing way more in the morning than he was used to.

"My senses...?" He lifted his snout and tested the air. Then he cringed.

"Whoa. Waaay sharper. Y'know when you're walkin' down an alley and you smell the cookin' of everybody in the apartments overhead? It's that, but I'm in the freakin' building."

A pause.

"Somebody's burned dinner, too. What a waste."

"If only they could've smelled it sooner. It's like you have superpowers now." A pause. "Besides everything being Chainsaw Man gives you."

Seems like he still has that going on, so that's good. Pochita's still with him; Denji would be really sad if he wasn't.

"You might have really keen hearing, too. It's just a question of whether or not you can see red or green anymore. You'll know the instant you see Blitzø."

That's right! Pochita was a devil, but hell hounds probably followed normal dog rules. He'd keep it in mind when he saw Blitz next to see if something was weird about his vision. He was so wrapped up in everything that he hadn't noticed that even Octavia's eyes had looked like a cooler color, more a gold than anything.

"...I think..." He brought a paw to his chin.

"I should rebrand, too! How does Chainsaw Hound sound?"

"...Honestly? I kinda like it. Chainsaw Man was fine, too, but Chainsaw Hound feels appropriate. It carries the dog motif from Pochita and they can already intimidate people with snarls. You add chainsaw revs to that and you're gonna make someone shit themselves."

With a thought coming to mind, Via tilts her head and she giggles.

"I'd say you'd have to worry about getting blood on your fur, but by now, I think you're a master at cleaning it off. I could try teaching you a spell to clean yourself up..."

Well, now his afternoon was booked. He needed to work on his snarl. But his ears twitched at the word 'spell'.

"Right, magic's a thing... wait, hellhounds can use magic, huh!? I can use magic..."

He clenched his fists.

"Holy shit... Via, I wanna be a dog wizard."

"You're gonna be a dog wizard, Denji."

There's a growing smile on Octavia's face. She's seen Loona do magic, so there's no reason to think Denji can't do the same.

"I'm not as knowledgeable as dad, but I can teach you what I know. It's gonna involve studying and I will give you homework. If you keep at it, you'll be able to throw fireballs or magically fix things and change your shape, if we ever go up to the human world."

"Lab-ra cadabra."

He smirked. "Look, I didn't give a flyin' shit about school before, but if I gotta study and do homework to do all that wild shit you and your old man do? I'm pullin' straight A's. Quote me on that."

"I'll do exactly that when the time comes. Especially when you get those A's."

Via gave a resolute nod. A himbo putting their mind to something an unstoppable force makes.

"I can't give you extra credit for keeping the puns coming, but you might get a laugh out of me eventually."

"Not even a little extra credit? As a treat? Damn. Strict teacher."

He folded his arms and canted his head.

"The important question NOW is: Glasses on... or no glasses? I feel that they do enhance smartness."
