[The crowd gradually grows larger, until even the spot where Ritsu's sitting is considered prime real estate. Kids and teens bustle about, standing on their toes for a better view, and then there's a collective groan and the chiptune of defeat.

Killua only gets to slot his score into the second spot, with a small "tsk" under his breath.]

Alright, it's all yours. [He waves a hand dismissively over his shoulder as he walks away, and it's with that motion he notices the way his ribbon moves. No longer dragging on the ground, it hangs in the air, coming to a stop at the boy just two feet to his left.]

Huh? [The noise is flat. His expression a sort of muted bewilderment.]

[moresuffering]

[Good. It's too busy here, so Ritsu just stands up and gestures towards the door - they're not about to have a conversation here any time soon.] Come on. Let's talk. [He's not exactly waiting to see if Killua follows, but even if he decides to be petulant and wait, he'll have to go out through the front door eventually (assuming he's not a complete delinquent). Who's this severe-looking kid??]

[Killua's not so sure about that, as he furrows his brow and gives Ritsu a particularly petulant look. He's glad it's a kid his age... Hell, he's glad it's a boy just so his Mother can shut up about grandchildren and "carrying on the family lineage", but he already doesn't like this kid's attitude. Who goes out of their way to find their soulmate so shortly after the damn thing shows up?

It's not like he can really run away, though. So he'll follow him outside with a bit of an exaggerated sigh.]

[moresuffering]

[Ritsu's right outside, looking at the thread between them before looking up at Killua more properly. Should he bow? Shake hands? He settles on a nod.] I'm Kageyama Ritsu. I wanted to get this out of the way.

[killectric]

Stupid, is this really the sort of thing you're supposed to just "get out of the way"?

[Less endeared by the moment, Killua doesn't offer his name.]

[moresuffering]

The first meeting is supposed to be this big dramatic thing, but I don't care about something like that. My family will want to see you, though. [Not that it's an actual reason to drag Killua home. He's still not sure.] They say this sort of thing means you're supposed to work well together. Whatever that means.

[killectric]

You're not seeing my family. [He says coolly, cutting him off.]

I don't buy into this soulmate crap, so don't think it gives you any special privileges.

[moresuffering]

That's a relief.

[Good, he doesn't want in on the hype. Even if he is also kind of appreciative of the fact that Killua.. also isn't immediately putting him on a pedestal.]

Your parents just let you spend your time playing games here? Or are they going to pick you up?

[killectric]

[If he was relieved by that, maybe they were on the same page after all.]

Oh, they don't know I'm here.

[He starts walking down the sidewalk, hands in pocket.]

My name's Killua.

[moresuffering]

[Ritsu will walk with him, nodding.] Just Killua? [That's fine, he guesses.] What are you doing now? [He didn't have any other plans for today. And this is the "normal" thing to do. Something that's expected of him.]

[killectric]

What, you need my family name too?

[A beat.] I'm going to get some Chocorobos.

[moresuffering]

[What are those? Chocorobos...? But choco- is pretty recognizable. ........So what if he has a little bit of a sweet tooth.] What are they?

[killectric]

They're Chocorobos, duh!

[Killua says like he didn't just define the word with...the same word.]

[moresuffering]

Are they a chocolate robot?

[killectric]

That's what I said. Chocorobos.

[moresuffering]

How much do they cost?

[killectric]

I don't know, I always just buy however many are on the shelf.

[moresuffering]

[That sounds like a lot of money... Ritsu makes a face, but he'll still follow along.]

[killectric]

[A whole minute of silent walking passes.]

Hey, if you're really my soulmate, you've gotta buy me gifts and stuff, right?

[moresuffering]

Neither of us are a girl, so I don't think that counts. I don't have a very large allowance, though.

[killectric]

Laaame. Well, I stole enough money from Mother's purse to cover us, so whatever.

[Killua casually drops that bombshell.]

[moresuffering]

[He was kind of expecting it so he's not exactly shocked. He huffs a laugh, covering his mouth to hide it quickly.] Guess you better hope you don't get caught.

[killectric]

It doesn't matter, I'm not going back home.

[He pulls a coin out of his pocket and starts to fiddle with it, letting it spin on his fingertip before he ferries it over his fingers and then back again.]

[moresuffering]

[That makes Ritsu pause a bit.]

Not going back? You're a runaway?

[killectric]

Yup. [He flips the coin into the air and then catches it.]
